4. Connections/networking for major grants

VYLI has received little support from major foundations, corporations and other humanitarian organizations. VYLI has been invited to become a demonstration project site from the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), the U.S. Department of Labor. This grant of $300,000 will help support VYLI’s Cultural-Entrepreneurship Initiative; Workforce Readiness; Eco-tourism and Sustainable Building and Development Technologies. Since only 10% of the grant covers administrative costs, we would have to raise $150,000 to cover operational expenses.

5. In-kind
• Frequent flier miles to allow VYLI youth to participate in trainings and conferences. Ambar Fontalez has a dream of becoming a doctor and helping her people to have better health services in Vieques. Ambar has been offered a summer internship at Harvard University. We have received housing for her.

Cesar Chavez Foundation has offered to provide training and housing to a VYLI radio team.
